Surface:

What tools do I need for the renovation?

Sandpaper, sanding fleece, brush, paint roller, paint tray, cover band (tape), cover sheeting

How should I prepare the surface?

The surface should be lightly sanded with the sandpaper. This gives the following paint the necessary grip. To not more than necessary grind, use for the edges sanding fleece.

Do I need to apply a primer? If so, how should this be applied?

A primer should be applied when no painting has been carried out. If the old paint only chipped off in patches and the ground visible, it is enough that a primer on these points apply.

Which paint should be applied?

As primer we recommend the Impredur Primer 835 by Brillux. It is diffusible, that the dampness can escape from the wood but can't again penetrate. For the between and the finish coat the Impredur Ventipaint 822 by Brillux are also perfectly suitable. Between the coats a light sanding should be done. This gives the following paint better grip.

How should the paint be applied?

The soil should be covered with a cover sheeting to protect it from paint splashes. The coating can be applied with a brush or a paint roller. When applied with a paint roller, a paint tray is helpful. This can easily strip too much absorbed color.

Do I need to apply a primer? If so, how should this be applied?

If wood ingredients or water stains are visible, the surface must be pretreated with Isoprimer 243 by Brillux. The Isoprimer shall be construed as a primer / undercoat with sealing off effect. The breathability of the wood is not affected because the Isoprimer only sealing off the wood ingredients.

As a final coat we recommend the Top Coat 871 by Brillux. The breathability of the wood is still assured.

Paint a previously painted soffit with transparent glaze paints

Surface: The existing color is stuck, the color is just faded.

What tools do I need for the renovation?

Sanding fleece, sandpaper, brush, cover band (tape), cover sheeting

How should I prepare the surface?

The surface should be sanded with a sandpaper, so that the following coating has better adhesion. For the edges is a sanding fleece work well, which won‘t remove too much color. If you don’t sand the surface enough the follwing paint won’t have enough liability.

Do I need to apply a primer? If so, how should this be applied?

A primer is not neccessary, because the existing paint is still intact and only should be refreshed.

Which paint should be applied?

For painting we recommend the glazes by Sikkens. A twice painting would be reasonable. Should be the wood verry dry, we recommend a thin glaze with Cetol HLS by Sikkens and as finishing coat a thick glaze with Cetol Filter 7 by Sikkens. In this way, the wood is long-term protected.

How should the paint be applied?

We recommend for painting a glaze paintbrush, as the wood grain is better emphasized. Mask with the cover band (tape) all the points that should be not painted. The soil should be covered with a cover sheeting to protect it from paint splashes.
